Where Imagination Has No Limits

Animation has always been the art of making the impossible visible. From Méliès’ earliest drawings to the studios that inspired entire generations to dream, every animated image was born from a human hand and a boundless vision. AI only amplifies this power.

The World AI Animation Festival in Cannes is an AI animation festival dedicated to creators imagining new visual worlds through artificial intelligence.

The Golden Firefly - World AI Animation Festival

OUR MISSION

The World AI Animation Festival was born from a simple truth: animation has always pushed the boundaries of reality. Before AI, an animator, a storyboard artist, or an art director had to devote years of work to bringing just a few minutes of images to life. Today, artificial intelligence compresses that time without erasing the human gesture — it frees the creator from repetitive technique and allows them to focus on what matters most: artistic intention, visual storytelling, and emotion. Our mission is to spotlight artists who understand that AI is not a magic wand, but a brush of new precision — and that behind every generated image is a vision that knew how to ask the right questions.

Directly affiliated with the World Film Festival in Cannes – Remember the Future, founded by filmmaker Karolina Bomba — the first festival in the world to award AI-generated creations as early as 2020 — the World AI Animation Festival stands in a pioneering lineage where creative boldness and ethical responsibility move forward together. Our conviction: the limit has never been technology. It has always been imagination. Today, AI breaks the financial and technical barriers that prevented so many artists from bringing their worlds to life — a creative person who dreamed of a fantasy world without a studio budget can now build it image by image, alone with their vision.

OUR THREE PILLARS

The artist above all

Every work is judged on its art direction, visual coherence, and narrative power. AI is a tool. Animation is what the artist makes of it.

Visual innovation

We value works that explore new visual languages, original aesthetics, and graphic worlds that only the human-AI combination could create.

A global stage

Independent animators, emerging studios, motion designers, generative artists — open to all nationalities, aesthetics, and formats, from short films to feature-length works.

OUR CODE OF ETHICS

ETHICAL CHARTER — BEHIND EVERY ANIMATED IMAGE, AN ARTIST. BEHIND EVERY PROMPT, A HUMAN BEING.

We expect every participant’s work to clearly reflect their creative process: presentation of the project, artistic intention, and the role of AI in the creation. An artist who masters their tool also knows how to tell their vision.

THE JURY & THE SELECTION

An international jury composed of art directors, animators, animated film directors, digital cinematographers, and experts in generative art evaluates each work according to demanding criteria: originality of the visual universe, aesthetic coherence, narrative mastery, animation quality, and transparency of the creative process. The winners are honored during the annual ceremony of the World AI Animation Festival, in Cannes — where images have always had the final word. Submitting to the World AI Animation Festival means proving that your universe deserves to exist beyond your screen.
